Privacy Policy - Whop Trends Data Collection & User Privacy
Last Updated: August 20, 2026
Whop Trends ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information about you when you use whoptrends.com and our related services. It also describes your privacy rights and how to contact us.
By using our website or services, you acknowledge this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
Information We Collect
When you interact with our website or services, we may collect:
- Account information you provide through our authentication provider, Clerk — such as your name and email address.
- Usage and analytics data through PostHog, including page views, clicks, feature usage, error reports, and session replays. PostHog assigns a pseudonymous identifier to your browser. When you sign in, we link that identifier to your Clerk user ID so we can understand product usage by subscription tier. Input fields are masked in session replays. See PostHog's privacy policy: https://posthog.com/privacy.
- Marketing analytics data through Datafast, including visitor and session identifiers stored in cookies. Datafast helps us measure traffic sources and page interactions. If you start a paid checkout, we pass your Datafast visitor and session IDs to Stripe as checkout metadata so we can attribute the conversion to the right marketing source.
- API usage data when you use MCP Connect or API keys. We log which tools are called, timestamps, and success/failure status to enforce rate limits and improve the service. We do not log the content of API responses or your query parameters.
- Email engagement data when we send product, onboarding, or marketing emails through Resend — such as delivery status and whether you opened a message. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.
- Device and browser data automatically collected when you visit our site — such as browser type, operating system, referring URL, and general location derived from IP address. Our analytics providers may also collect this data.
- Font loading data when fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. Google may receive your IP address as part of that request. See Google Fonts privacy information.
Cookies & Tracking Technologies
We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies on our website. Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Local storage holds data in your browser without an expiry date.
We group these technologies as follows:
- Essential. Required to operate the site — for example, Clerk authentication cookies that keep you signed in. These cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality.
- Analytics. Help us understand how visitors and signed-in users interact with Whop Trends — for example, PostHog cookies/local storage and Datafast visitor/session cookies.
- Marketing attribution. Help us understand which campaigns or pages led to sign-ups or purchases — primarily Datafast cookies passed to Stripe at checkout.
The table below lists the main cookies and storage keys we use. Exact names may vary slightly by browser or provider version.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Clerk session cookies | Clerk | Keep you signed in | Essential | Session / up to 1 year |
| ph_*_posthog | PostHog | Analytics ID and session replay | Analytics | Up to 1 year |
| PostHog local storage | PostHog | Persist analytics state between visits | Analytics | Persistent until cleared |
| datafast_visitor_id | Datafast | Identify returning visitors | Analytics / marketing | Up to 1 year |
| datafast_session_id | Datafast | Track a single visit session | Analytics / marketing | Session / up to 30 days |
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent you from signing in. Blocking analytics cookies may limit our ability to improve the product but will not affect core access for signed-in subscribers.
We do not currently show a cookie consent banner. If you are in a region that requires opt-in consent for non-essential cookies, you can disable analytics cookies in your browser or contact us at hi@whoptrends.com to request that we stop analytics processing for your account.
Payment & Subscription Information
Whop Trends Pro is a recurring subscription ($29/month or $228/year) processed by our payment processor, Stripe. Card numbers and full payment details are never stored on our servers — those live with Stripe. You can read their privacy policy at https://stripe.com/privacy.
We do store the following subscription metadata in our database so we can grant and revoke access correctly:
- Your Stripe customer ID and subscription ID.
- Subscription status (active, past_due, canceled, etc.) and the current billing period end date.
- Whether the subscription is set to cancel at period end.
- Plan type (subscription or grandfathered lifetime).
Stripe sends us webhook events whenever your subscription lifecycle changes (created, updated, renewed, payment failed, canceled). We ingest these events server-side to keep the entitlement record in sync — for example, to immediately revoke dashboard access when a subscription is canceled, or to keep access available during a temporary payment retry window.
Grandfathered Lifetime Access customers (one-time purchases made prior to May 12, 2026) have a simpler record: just the original Stripe checkout session ID and an "active" flag.
Authentication Information
We use Clerk for authentication services. Clerk handles your account credentials, email verification, and session management. You can read their privacy policy here: https://clerk.com/legal/privacy.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve our website and services.
- Authenticate you, manage your account, and enforce subscription access.
- Understand product usage, diagnose errors, and prioritize improvements through analytics and session replay.
- Measure marketing performance and attribute sign-ups or purchases to traffic sources.
- Send transactional, onboarding, and marketing emails — including payment receipts, product updates, and re-engagement messages.
- Communicate with you about your account and respond to support requests.
- Protect the security and integrity of our website and services.
- Process payments and grant access to premium features based on your subscription tier.
- Comply with legal obligations.
Legal Basis for Processing (EEA & UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we process your personal data on the following bases:
- Contract. To provide the service you signed up for — account management, subscription access, and API entitlements.
- Legitimate interests. To operate, secure, and improve Whop Trends — including analytics, fraud prevention, and marketing attribution — where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Consent. Where required by law — for example, non-essential cookies or marketing emails in jurisdictions that require opt-in consent.
- Legal obligation. To keep records required by tax, accounting, or other applicable law.
Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We may share information with:
- Service providers who help us operate Whop Trends — including Clerk (authentication), Stripe (payments), PostHog (product analytics and session replay), Datafast (marketing analytics), Resend (email delivery), and Railway (hosting).
- Legal and safety recipients when required to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, or protect the rights, property, and safety of Whop Trends, our users, or others.
- Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — subject to this Privacy Policy or equivalent protections.
International Data Transfers
Whop Trends is operated from the United States. If you access our services from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. Those countries may have different data protection laws than your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as standard contractual clauses — for cross-border transfers.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information. These may include the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete your information, subject to legal exceptions.

- The right to know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and share.
- The right to delete personal information, with exceptions.

- The right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- The right to limit use of sensitive personal information, where applicable.
- The right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising your privacy rights.
We do not sell personal information for money. We may use analytics and attribution tools that could be considered "sharing" under California law. To opt out, email hi@whoptrends.com with the subject line "California Opt-Out."
Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. Subscription and billing history (Stripe IDs, invoice references, period timestamps) is retained for up to seven years after cancellation to satisfy financial recordkeeping and tax obligations, even if your account is otherwise deleted. Analytics and session replay data is retained according to our PostHog project settings, typically for up to one year. If you wish to delete your account, email hi@whoptrends.com, and we will process your request in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
Children's Privacy
Whop Trends is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
