Six questions about your own operation. You answer them from what you already know, or you find out that you cannot — and finding out that you cannot is the point. Certificate content requirements took effect July 8, 2026 for imported consumer goods, and January 8, 2027 for goods entered from a Foreign Trade Zone. Most importers have not established whether either reaches them. The six checks: whether you are the Importer of Record, whether your product is in scope, whether an entry is filed on your goods and by whom, whether your filer has asked you for certificate data, whether a certificate already exists anywhere in your chain, and where your belief that you have filed actually comes from. Every regulatory statement carries a marker resolving to an official CPSC or CBP page, with the date it was read. Where a statement has no marker, it is not a regulatory statement — and several of the most important lines here are limits of the document, written out rather than left as silence. What this does not do, stated once and meant literally. It does not determine whether any product of yours is regulated. It does not tell you which certificate applies to anything, or what one must contain. It does not tell you what to do about anything it surfaces.
